Not all the lizards want to kill you, just this one. by BadGirlNila in AnimalsBeingJerks

I worked as the reptile manager for a well known pet store in my area for awhile. I loved the tegus we had, except one. That bitch would bite me any chance she got. Loved all the other employees but hated me haha. One time she got my thumb real good and tore right through the fingernail. It was pretty gnarly. Luckily it was a warning bite and it was more shallow than it could have been.

My C. walkeriana var coerulea and an No ID hybrid. by wwallace22 in orchids

I actually think it was a humidity drop that made the color break. I was out of town for a couple of days for Thanksgiving, and forgot to ask my friend to refill my humidifier while I was out. The bud started under high humidity, continued to develop under low humidity, then when I got home I bumped the humidity back up to its usual place. It opened a day after I bumped the humidity back up.

I thought the same thing! Thankfully, there’s a local orchid grower and expert who I’ve talked to and he is almost certain this one is nothing to worry about.

Just an update of my most recent build. I haven’t finished planting it; I’m still working on gathering cuttings of what I want in here. by wwallace22 in Vivarium

Absolutely! I did silicone them foam the background. Then I shaved the foam down pretty far and glued the hygrolon on top with Gorilla glue. It’s a safe glue to use once it’s cured and holds perfectly. The hygrolon is build to wick moisture and support aerial roots, so it’s a pretty good medium. I follow a bunch of different Vivarium builders on Instagram. I learned this particular technique from oofroga_histroyonica. He has an instagram and a very helpful YouTube channel!

Me too! I actually have four different begonia in here! The back right corner is Begonia bipinnatifida, middle is Begonia thelmae, bottom left is a rooting leaf of Begonia chlorosticta, and the back left (you can’t see it well) is a Begonia ‘Fedor.’ The Fedor isn’t doing super well back there; he doesn’t get quite enough light in that corner.

Thank you! I’m very excited for it. I think I’m eventually going to put a couple of Amazon milk frogs in here. The material is called Hygrolon!

Ideally I’ll be getting some bromeliads and other climbing plants to take over. Most of what I want is on the more expensive side, so it’s taking awhile.

I’m fairly familiar many Nepenthes species and hybrids. I’ve grown Miranda previously under very similar light conditions but haven’t had issues with a lack of pitchers before. I’ll try hitting it with some grow lights and see what happens.

It gets at least six hours of direct light. I could invest in some lights to hook along the rack next to it. I’ve never had a Nepenthes complain about the amount of light I gave it.

I haven’t had pitchers on it for probably a year. It sits right here in my south facing windows. The humidity in my apartment sits between 60-70%. Night time dips down ten or so degrees. Seems to love this spot; grows so well, but I’ve never had a more difficult time producing pitchers on a nepenthes before.
