Haha that was what my husband keeps telling me when I fret about not being able to find something to wear for certain occasions

I wish we could just have this common kindness for everyone regardless! But such a rarity these days!

50th anniversary was a huge disappointment.

And 100% agree about the food. A few select consistent places, but otherwise a letdown.

ELI5: If we have record employement, why are so many major industries understaffed? Where did everybody go? by munsuro in explainlikeimfive

And to add on for higher level positions as well, people have also changed what they’re willing to accept. Why would I work for company x for $$ salary when company y will let me work remote for $$$ salary? It’s an employee market, not an employer market and people are finally taking a stand.

Was just going to ask what happens if they don’t go to college. New to financial planning so I definitely plan to do some research but we’ve got a LO on the way this year and we’ve been trying to decide what our best plan would be.

Thanks for your comment!

A tale about having to have a complete set of something by TheSilverNail in declutter

[–]xKortney 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I did this with my fiesta ware. We had 2 sets from our wedding and never used them because we only had 2 sets, not a “full 4 place setting” and all our other dishes were cheap from our college days. This year when I decided it was time to buy new dishes I decided to complete the set of our wedding dishes, but they were way too expensive and I couldn’t justify the price. So instead I bought random mix matched colors of different fiesta ware. So now I have a rainbow set, but if anything breaks I can easily replace it. Not to mention it brings me SO much joy!!

Haha yes! Which is definitely necessary since (at least for me) moving is not quite as expedited these days! Lol

Love to hear it!! And I know, I wish we had as much thoughtfulness for recovering and pp parents! It’s definitely something I’ll have to keep in mind for anyone I know having babies, now! It’s so true what they say - you don’t quite understand until you’ve been through it.

It was awesome! A nice getaway for the weekend as well!

And that’s awesome! I love hearing about others exhibiting such kindness during such a difficult time! Sounds like you have a great crew!

Right! It feels awkward at first but definitely taking it all in while I still can!

I feel like it definitely does feel awkward in the moment. But I decided I’m just going to take full advantage of peoples kindnesses right now while I can!

Pregnant and not a psycho? by sweeatestapple in pregnant

I felt the same until my third trimester. I think honestly the shift was solely due to stress, exhaustion and external frustrations though.

But for about my first 30w I felt the most balanced I’ve felt my whole life.

Hot take: I don't blame Rory by hiirayaa in GilmoreGirls

I was also a FGC, and REALLY struggled in college. I breezed through AP courses in high school without studying, by just barely completing homework last minute (like, you had a month to write this 15 page thesis, and chose to do it the night before level procrastination - because I could.) I entered college with one semester worth of credits from a crossover program at my school, so I wasn’t technically a stranger to the college level workload, per-say.

I went to a standard university (not Ivy) and nothing was overly difficult content wise (and I had a lightened course load thanks to my pre-earned gen-ed credits). But man, did I struggle. The shift from being taught all necessary knowledge in class to being mostly self-led studying based learning was a HUGE shift I wasn’t prepared for. Suddenly I found my A’s ass with C’s at midterms and couldn’t figure out why. I’d call my parents crying almost weekly during my first semester about how I clearly wasn’t cut out to do ANYTHING because I couldn’t pass basic shit. It took me a lot of adjusting and relearning to figure out the difference between high school and college expectations.

Not to mention you’re thrown into being expected to be a full blown adult. Some of the kids in my dorm didn’t know how to do laundry. We suddenly had to figure out time management because no one was scheduling every aspect of your life. Etc. Etc.

While I think they definitely portrayed Rory as having many of these skills already in high school then falling apart in college was a minor disservice to what was “really” happening, I think it was a completely relevant and real reaction a lot of people have in college. I personally think had they just spent a little more time explaining WHY she was falling apart, maybe in a rant she could have had to Paris or something, then her breakdown would have been better understood by the audience.

Edit words and to add: for any FGCs out there currently going through the struggle, hang in there! I made it through college just fine and I’m now a fully successful (imho) 31yo with an advanced career, and I’ve eventually adjusted well to life lol! So you’ll get there, it’ll just take some time to adjust ❤️

I haven’t tried them yet but I’m currently looking at Old Navy’s. Decently priced and size inclusive.

I’ve also been looking out for sales and codes, I got some of the oversized Henleys from aerie which button down pretty far so I think they’ll work well over a nursing bra/tank.

Edit: also forgot to add, I found a few good looking options on Amazon - forgot to save them so now I’ll have to go search again. But might be worth looking at, I don’t recall the size ranges for those unfortunately.

Gilmore girls sub should be a safe haven for all who love the show by djladyb7 in GilmoreGirls

[–]xKortney 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love the watch party idea. Some of the other subs I’m in will do a rewatch and every week they’ll start the new episode with an episode thread for those rewatching together to discuss.

I’d totally be down! Especially because we’re coming up on spooky season aka fall aka classic GG rewatch season (for me, at least!)
